E-SPACE

Privacy policy

What data E-SPACE uses and why. The short version: your models are not stored, there is no advertising or usage analytics, and the data we do process (the account, this website's forms and voice) is the minimum for the service to work.

Last updated: November 2, 2026.

Who we are

E-SPACE is a set of mixed reality tools for Meta Quest, augmented reality for Android phones, and a Rhino plug-in, which show Rhino and Grasshopper models in the real space. It is developed by Arch. López Emanuel M. (Computational Designer), owner of E-SPACE, the controller of the data described here. Contact: [contact email].

In short

  • Your models are not stored. They pass from your computer to your viewers and are not kept on any server.
  • No advertising, no usage analytics and no selling of data. This website uses no tracking cookies.
  • Every plan, including the free one, uses an account (email and password, or Google) to verify the license. Creating a Basic plan account is free.
  • The Quest and phone apps have no account of their own for now: the license is signed in from Rhino.
  • Voice is optional and is activated only with a gesture: the audio of each phrase is turned into text with a Meta service and is not stored.

This website

Cookies and storage. We use only what is strictly necessary for the site to work. We use no advertising, social media or analytics cookies.

WhatWhat forHow long
Chosen language (browser local storage)Remember whether you view the site in Spanish or EnglishUntil you delete it. It is not sent to any server
Intro seen (session storage)Not to repeat the opening animation in the same visitUntil you close the tab
Form session (technical cookie, only when you submit)Protection against automated and duplicate submissionsUntil you close the browser
Account session (on the identity provider's domain, only if you sign in)Keep your session openAccording to the provider's configuration

Forms. If you fill in the beta form or the inquiry form, we receive what you write (name, email, profile, country, viewer and message) and use it only to evaluate your request and answer you. We keep the request in a private log on the site's server and email it to ourselves; to limit spam we also store a code derived from your IP address (not the address itself). You can ask us to delete it at any time. We keep requests during the beta and a reasonable time afterwards to follow up with you.

Server logs. The hosting provider (Hostinger) records technical data about visits (for example, IP address and pages requested) for the operation and security of the service, under its own policy.

What the viewer app (Quest and phone) uses and why

  • Camera images. They are used only to read QR codes (the session one and the anchoring markers) and, on the phone, to show the space in augmented reality. They are processed on the device, on the spot. They are not stored or sent anywhere.
  • Hand and controller tracking. Used to point, grab, move, rotate and scale pieces and to operate the menu. It is processed in the headset and is not stored.
  • Room scan (surfaces). If you allow it, the app uses the surfaces the headset detects (floor, walls and tables) to rest the model and to draw the sun's shadow. It is used on the spot, on the device, and is not stored or sent.
  • Location for the sun. The sun and shadows feature does not use GPS or the device location: it takes latitude, longitude and north from the Rhino file, or the ones you enter by hand.
  • Communication with your computer. The app connects to the computer running Rhino with the EsSync plug-in. Over that connection it receives the model and its parameters and sends the device state: position and orientation of the headset, hands and controllers, and the QR codes detected.
  • Data stored on the device. Its settings and what is needed to reconnect (for example, your server address). They are deleted when you uninstall the app.

Your account (all plans)

To verify the license we use an account managed by an identity provider (Auth0). We process:

  • Email and name (if you enter it), and your password, which never goes through Rhino or our servers: the identity provider stores it in protected form. If you sign in with Google, we receive your email and name from Google.
  • Plan and trial or subscription status (level, expiry, seats).
  • License seat usage: when a session opened and closed and how many viewers there were, only to enforce plan limits.

We use this data to let you in, apply your plan, tell you about important changes and answer your inquiries. We keep it while you have the account and, after you close it, for as long as the law requires.

Payments

Nothing is charged today and we do not ask for payment data. When we open sales, payments will be processed by a payment provider acting as merchant of record; we will not see or store your card details. We will update this policy before charging, saying who it is.

Voice commands

Voice is a Pro feature you can choose never to use.

  • When it listens: only after you make the activation gesture (show your right palm and close your hand, or the A button on the right controller). It stops by itself when you finish speaking, with a maximum of about 12 seconds per phrase. It does not listen in the background.
  • Where the audio goes: the audio of each phrase is sent to Wit.ai, a speech recognition service from Meta, which turns it into text. The text is interpreted in the headset. We do not store the audio or the text. Meta may process the data it receives under its own privacy policy.
  • What for: only to run the command you said (show a piece, switch a layer on, change the view or a parameter, the sun…).
  • Permission: the Quest asks for microphone permission; you can deny it and the rest of the app keeps working.
  • The app's spoken replies are prerecorded clips; no voice of yours is generated.

Server and network

  • Same network: if Rhino and the viewer are on the same network, they connect to each other over that network and your data does not leave it. Only our server is consulted to verify the license.
  • Different network (in preparation): when available, the connection will go through our cloud server, which will relay messages between your computer and your viewers without storing them: the model, positions and parameters will pass through the server's memory and will not be written to disk. The server will record minimal technical data (connection time, session code and errors) for its operation and security.
  • Connections over the internet are encrypted.

Who we share data with

We do not sell or give away your data. We share it only with the providers that make the service possible, which process it on our behalf: the identity provider (Auth0), the website hosting and email (Hostinger), the cloud server provider once it exists and, if you use voice, Meta's Wit.ai. We may disclose data if a competent authority requires it by law. Some of these providers are outside Argentina; by using them, your data may be processed in other countries.

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct or delete your data, or to object to its use, by writing to [contact email]; we reply within a reasonable time. Closing your account deletes your account data, except what we must keep by law. In Argentina, the Agency for Access to Public Information oversees the personal data protection law (Law 25,326), and you can turn to it.

What we do not do

We do not build profiles or run advertising. We do not use your Meta user ID, your Meta name, your photo or your friends list. We do not use your models or your images to train anything.

Permissions the app asks for

  • Camera: to read QR codes (and show the space on the phone).
  • Hand tracking (Quest): to interact with your hands.
  • Space data (scene) (Quest): to detect floor, walls and tables.
  • Microphone (Quest): only for Pro voice commands, and only when you make the activation gesture.

Minors

E-SPACE is a work tool for teenagers and adults and is not directed to children under 13. Faculty accounts are created by the institutions.

Changes to this policy

If what E-SPACE does with data changes, we will update this page and the date above, and tell you about important changes before applying them.
